Wine and Beer Tasting To Benefit Bernardsville Library:
On Friday, September 27 from 6:30 to 10:00 pm, the Bernardsville Library Foundation will host a wine and beer tasting, “Raise A Glass for the Library,” at the United States Equestrian Academy (1040 Pottersville Road, Gladstone, NJ 07934) to support Bernardsville Public Library. There will be selections for tasting from more than twenty fine wine importers and distributors and a collection of craft and microbreweries as well as delicious finger food, music and a fabulous silent auction. Tickets are $85 in advance and $95 at the door. Benefactor tickets are also available for $200. [Attendees must be 21 years of age.] The wine and beer tasting is being coordinated by David Wagner of Adelphia Wine Market in Bernardsville, who has chosen a wide variety of 150 different fine, imported wines and local craft beers. There will be more than 20 very knowledgeable brand managers serving samples and also providing tips and interacting with the guests.
Monterey Fine Foods and its Director of Catering, Linda Galdieri, have planned a dazzling menu to compliment the wine and beer offerings. Guests will feast upon lavish charcuterie boards adorned with cured meats, a wide array of cheeses, many of which will be sourced locally, and accoutrements to compliment the meats and cheeses. Sweets will also adorn the tables.
The music will be provided by two local spin doctors who bring back the “cool factor” with the sound of vinyl. Instead of leaving the choice of artists and songs to a DJ, attendees will be invited to flip through hundreds of new and vintage albums to choose what they would like to hear. Listening to favorite songs will surely add to the sensory experience of the evening as the audience relives the thrill of vinyl—music as it was first intended to be heard.
Guests can also enjoy an overview of the world’s main wine regions and wines by Dr. Mark Vogel early in the evening, including a guide to buying, storing, serving, and cooking with wine. Dr. Vogel graduated from the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City and has taught many cooking classes and seminars on wine over the years. Since 2002 he has published 400 articles on food and wine in his column “Food for Thought.”
Tickets are available for purchase online at www.bernardsvillelibrary.org/events. Call the library at 908-766-0118 for further information.
